About me...
I was born to a single mother in South America, where I grew up speaking Spanish, playing chess, and dreaming of meeting Carl Sagan. My family and I moved to Columbia, South Carolina almost six years ago mainly seeking schooling for my brothers and I. Adjusting to the cultural differences between the U.S. and my country was difficult, but the greatest challenge has been breaking the misconceptions that people may have about me based on my background. I'm currently pursuing a Ph.D at NC State University.
My Research Interests
- Synthesis of sol-gel glass monoliths
- Spectroscopy of Rare-Earths
- Modeling of nonlinear processes
